Senator Julia Coleman (R–Waconia) released the following statement in response to the guilty verdict in the felony burglary trial of Sen. Nicole Mitchell (D‑Woodbury):
"As Assistant Minority Leader, I stood before my colleagues and demanded Justin Eichorn’s resignation the moment his felony charges came to light. Senate Republicans acted swiftly, choosing decency over power, and cleaned our side of the aisle. For over a year, we’ve called for Sen. Nicole Mitchell’s resignation after her felony burglary charges, now confirmed by two guilty verdicts on July 18, 2025.
Mitchell’s vote has been pivotal in a 34-33 Senate. With the majority of Minnesotans aware of her felony status, it’s time to review the votes she decided.
One side took out its trash; the other hasn’t. This isn’t about party—it’s about integrity.
I urge my colleagues across the aisle to join us in strengthening Senate ethics rules and ensuring transparency so this never happens again.
With love, respect, and humility, let’s restore trust in our legislature together."
