Senator Warren Limmer (R-Maple Grove) released the following statement responding to the attacks of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman, Senator John Hoffman, and their spouses:

“This morning we received the tragic news that Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed this morning at their home. In addition, Senator John Hoffman and his wife were also shot and are being treated for wounds. My prayers are with the Hortman family as they mourn this tragic loss. I’m praying too for the Hoffman family as they both recover. The peace of our communities is always our top priority. Political rhetoric has risen to a dangerous level and there is no cause that justifies this kind of assault. I want to thank the state, federal, and Capitol officers for their fast response to implement safety measures and pursue justice.”
