Senator Michael Kreun Applauds Corridors of Commerce Funding For Highway 65

The Minnesota Department of Transportation and Governor Tim Walz recently announced the annual Corridors of Commerce project recipients and included $30,000,000 for Highway 65 improvements.

“We can finally say that the first phase of Highway 65 improvements are fully funded. More than 7.5 million commuters use this road every year and have struggled with accidents, congestion, and lost time as they travel through the area. With this new project funding, relief on Highway 65 is finally in sight,” Sen. Michael Kreun (R-Blaine) said. “Securing funding to fix Highway 65 has been my number one priority since I was sworn in, and I was honored to work with the local partners, legislative supporters, and the Department of Transportation to make sure it came together. I will continue to fight for future phases along the Highway 65 corridor while prioritize funding for the Corridors of Commerce program and our State's roads and bridges.”

Funds secured last session in the transportation and bonding bills secured $102.75 million for the project. This additional $30 million from the Corridors of Commerce program funding means the first phase of Highway 65 improvements is fully funded and full reconstruction of the 99th, 105th, and 109th and 117th Avenue intersections along the Highway 65 corridor will commence in 2025.
