Senator Anderson Legislative Update

Friends and Neighbors,

Summer is coming to an end, and kids are getting ready to head back to school. Although we accomplished a lot last session, I am particularly proud of the work we did to fully fund our schools. We made an historic investment in E-12. Each school district will receive 2-percent increases in both 2020 and 2021, adding up to $388.8 million altogether. Below is the break-down for each school district:

Annandale:

  • 2020
    • $264,118 and $144/student increase
  • 2021
    • $534,420 and $294/pupil increase

Buffalo-Howard-Montrose:

  • 2020
    • $823,860 and $143/student increase
  • 2021
    • $1,628,320 and $293/student increase

Delano:

  • 2020
    • $348,494 and $140/student increase
  • 2021
    • $704,665 and $284 increase

Howard Lake – Waverly – Winstead:

  • 2020
    • $180,733 and $145/student increase
  • 2021
    • $366,295 and $293/student increase

Monticello:

  • 2020
    • $614,018 and $143/student increase
  • 2021
    • $1,221,219 and $292/student increase

Maple Lake:

  • 2020
    • $118,754 and $145/student increase
  • 2021
    • $238,117 and $293/student increase

Rockford:

  • 2020
    • $236,116 and $144/student increase
  • 2021
    • $469,605 and $290/student increase

We also increased special education funding this year. School districts are responsible for providing additional resources and services, and we appropriated extra funds to ensure that all our students receive excellent educational experiences.

I am confident that each of our school districts will greatly benefit from these increases. We are thankful for our amazing teachers and faculty and we are committed to providing them with the tools they need to help students succeed.
