Today Hibbing Taconite announced 45 positions will be eliminated as of February 1. Senator Robert Farnsworth (R-Hibbing) released the following statement:

“Layoffs are never easy news, but as we have so many times before I know we will come together and support one another. Mining is a vital part of our economy, and we will persevere through these challenges towards a brighter future for us and our children to continue the legacy of the miners that built our way of life. If you’re impacted by this layoff, please know that there are resources to help you get through this and my office is ready to help guide you to them.”
