Sen. Jasinski Appointed to Transportation Budget Conference Committee

State Senator John Jasinski (R-Faribault) will play a key role during transportation budget negotiations, the Senate Republican Caucus announced today. Sen. Jasinski was one of five senators appointed to the Transportation Conference Committee (House File 861). The conference committee is responsible for working out the differences between the House and Senate transportation budget bills, and finding a compromise with the governor on a final agreement.

“I am thrilled to be named as one of the negotiators on the transportation budget,” said Sen. Jasinski. “Since my first day in office, I made it clear that roads and bridges are my top priority. My first bill dedicated funding to highway 14, I’ve worked hard to get more money for the Corridors of Commerce program, and now I’m honored to have the responsibility of helping craft a compromise roads and bridges budget that works for everyone. I can’t wait to get started.”

The conference committee for House File 861 will have its first meeting on Wednesday, April 19 at 3:30 p.m. in room 120 of the capitol building.
