Sen. Anderson appointed to omnibus jobs and higher education conference committees

Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka has appointed freshman Senator Paul Anderson (R-Plymouth) to serve on both the Omnibus Jobs, Economic Development, Energy and Commerce Conference Committee and the Omnibus Higher Education Conference Committee.

The conference committee process kicked off this week as members of the Senate, House of Representatives, and the governor’s office work together to resolve and finalize the omnibus bills passed through each chamber earlier this month. Each of omnibus conference committees are made up of five members of the Senate, and five members of the House. Sen. Anderson will have a special role negotiating the best compromise for all sides on both of these important bills.

“It is an honor to be appointed to serve on these important conference committees,” said Sen. Anderson. “This is a great opportunity to continue my strong advocacy for pro-economic growth policies and prosperity for employers to create good jobs, and also make sure our colleges and universities have the funding they need to deliver the best education and opportunities to our students at an affordable price.”

“Both House and Senate bills include some great provisions, and I am excited to work together in a bipartisan and pragmatic way to send Governor Dayton bills that will help advance Minnesota.”

The Higher Education Conference Committee begins meeting today, Wednesday, April 19. Jobs, Economic Development, Energy and Commerce is set to begin meeting Monday, April 24.

Sen. Paul Anderson represents Senate District 44, which includes the communities of Plymouth, Minnetonka and Woodland.
