Democrats Look the Other Way as Gov. Dayton Grants Huge Raises for His Commissioners

Statement from Senate Republican Leader David Hann regarding Gov. Dayton’s salary increases for commissioners:
“I wish I could say I’m surprised the governor gave his closest advisors exorbitant raises today, but this is what we’ve come to expect from the ‘unbound’ Mark Dayton. Everyone else in Minnesota will now have to work a little bit harder so Mark Dayton’s commissioners can receive $150,000 salaries. It’s great to be king.
“Senate Democrats pushed for a delay in the salary increases last February in order to review the results of a compensation study in progress. That study found Minnesota is paying our employees well above the public sector market when compared to other states. I expect Sen. Bakk and other Minnesota Democrats to stand with the people and continue their criticism of these outrageous salary increases.”
